How People and Human Events 17 March 2005 at 6 PM in the Community Hall Click Here for Event Survey Results The event began with an open house with special guest Genevieve Trutor and selected items from the Benson Museum. Claire Dacey presented the second of four events in the PLACE (Place-based Landscape Analysis and Community Education) Program, sponsored by the Benson Conservation Committee. Sixty one people attended to learn about Benson's cultural history and how that shaped the way Benson is today. Those attending were asked to complete a short questionaire about the program and the results are available at the link above. All survey respondants either agreed or strongly agreed that they enjoyed this event. All attending gave enthusiastic thanks and applause to Claire Dacey after her wonderful presentation. She described Benson's cultural history from the first native peoples reaching Benson about 9000 years ago through European settlement, and finished up with the present - how we use the land today. Her clear and interesting presentation tied current and recent historical use of the landscape to the geological history presented in the first presentation. It was interesting to see how Benson's geology and the effects of the glaciers determine how people use the landscpae today. A video of the event is available on DVD. The cost is $5. To request a video, please e-mail a request to dvd@bppf.org or call John at 537-4461. PLEASE specify the name of the event and provide your name and phone number.
